My button-eyed angels

Our family consisted of three people- my husband, son and me...until it got extended a few years ago. Peaches- a pepper coloured Lhasa Apso, was born in my neighbour’s home and she was a pup who took instant liking to me. It’s true when they say that your pets choose u more than the opposite! She has been the light in our lives since the very beginning. Seeing her grow up and learning to adapt to her habits has been amazing. Right from her preference of eating chapatis to her hating to go for walks and baths...she has been a character in herself!

Few years down the line -like any parent- we wanted our daughter to meet the right guy and have kids! Finding a boy took a while but with help of friends, we were able to find a white Lhasa Apso, who was a shy and introvert dog. They were successful and had a litter of four pups! Peaches gave birth at our home and the preparation period till the birth was such an exciting phase for the entire family! We were going to be grandparents! Three of the pups were given to friends, except for one that seemed to stand out. She was a combination of black and white and had the cutest button eyes ever. For some reason she stood out with the way she slept, pushed her other siblings to get her share of milk and find her way around. We decided we just couldn’t part with her. She was the chosen one and she was christened Pixie! Why Pixie? Because she was the tiniest and most playful of the lot!

Peaches and Pixie have been the perfect daughters/pets one could have. They get along with everyone and at the same time, keep the unwanted guests at bay! There is nothing more wonderful like coming home and get greeted by the most ecstatic jumps, twirls, barks and licks...each and every single time! Their unconditional love and loyalty is incomparable. They have been perfect and wonderful in every which way, even with their so called flaws. Just like how we treat our loved ones, we scold them and end up just loving them even more. Every time they fall sick, time stops still. And when they go to the vet, their time stops still. Taking them for drives and getting haircuts for them is real fun; they come back looking younger and ooh so  adorable. All said and done, we can’t imagine life without them.

Peaches is now seven-years-old and Pixie is five. Once again the cycle of life begins and we’re looking for a groom for Pixie. Looks like our family is about to get bigger and have many more adventures, thanks to Peaches and Pixie, which other wise would be just a mundane life! It’s true that pets are therapeutic and stress busters. I highly recommend having a pet, even though it’s a huge responsibility. Regardless, it’s been pure bliss and never ending joy, love, laughter and happiness!
