Multi-cuisine extravaganza

Thursday, August 14, 2014

Flagged off a century back in 1913, Cafe New York Bar & Grill was just an Irani Cafe serving bun & brun maskas, samosas, mawa cakes along with the famous Irani chai from 7 a.m. To 1.30 a.m.!  The timing still remains the same but the cafe has progressed by leaps and bounds in both food, décor and ambience serving you a multi-cuisine extravaganza in both non-veg. & veg. that is truly superlative. There's a vast array of Indian, continental, Mexican, Chinese, Tandoor & Labanese fare to choose from. The Cafe has 3 sections – on the ground floor there are 2 sections; a.c. And non a.c. While the mezzanine floor has a truly amazing well-stocked spacious bar opened since a few months having an excellent collection of spirits, wines, beers, cocktails, innovative mocktails, single malts, scotch, apertifs and liquers. Try out their Tropical Colado, a blend of orange and pineapple juices, coconut cream and fresh cream – a delight for the tastebuds. The Bar & Grill has a unique wood décor, 5 T.V. Screens and a huge T.V. Screen from wall to wall giving you the ambience of sitting in a theatre and enjoying your drinks. Morever, it has pusating throbbing D.J. Music which makes it very lively for the young and the young at heart.

Due to its strategic position at 44 Hughes Road, Dhabolkar Building, opp. Reliance Jewells, it enjoys a close proximity with students of Wilson & Bhavan's College, loyal patrons residing at Babulnath, Chowpatty & Khareghat Colony. During it's 100 year long run, it has attracted both the college going crowd as well as senior citizens who love to frequent this place with family and friends. Managing partner Shahzad Bakht is the man behind the show whose creative and hard work over the years has made this restaurant reach inspirational heights.

You can drop in at 7 a.m. For a sumptuous breakfast and order pots of tea/coffee or juices along with eggs made to order; 'akoori on Toast' being the most favourite. Grilled sandwiches, baked beans on toast, omlette – both veg. & non-veg. make a hearty breakfast.

While you tinkle your glasses with the best of 'spirits', tuck into chilly garlic bread, nachos, potato skin and potato wedges. If you love Chinese delicacies, try out their special chicken triple szechwan & crispy chicken. Indian cuisine takes you to a gastronomical odyssey of boneless chicken biryani, butter chicken, tandoori chicken and Reshmi Kababs. If continental food is on your mind, savour their beef steaks and black pepper chicken. Go Italian with pastas like Arrabbiatta and Aglio-e-olio and various lasagnes. Falafel, Hummus with Pita & Kibbeh for the connoisseur of Labanese fare while unique Mexican dishes savoured are Bean Tacos (Veg) and Chicken Tacos (non-veg.) and Mexican Quesadillas in both veg. & non-veg. Tel. 23632876/ 23622877.
