Asks Gopinath Munde, while claiming that the alliance cannot even rule the state and centre effectively
BJP deputy leader of Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde yesterday criticised the Congress-NCP alliance for making tall claims about wresting power in the BMC.
Speaking to newspersons here, he remarked, “At the centre they cannot govern the nation properly. What can one expect of them at the BMC front? Last year has been a year of scams be it the 2G, CWG or the Adarsh.”
The senior BJP leader stated the Congress-NCP alliance has been in power both at the centre and in the state for the last 12 years. “Yet the state today faces 10 to 16 hours of load shedding and the state has a whopping Rs.2 lakh crore debt burden,” said the BJP leader.
Munde further stated that the government created MMRDA parallel to the BMC and is indulging in selling of land belonging to BMC and government. He said that after the 26/11 terror attacks the Centre had talked of updating and modernising the security apparatus in the city. However, after that there have been blasts in Opera House, Zaveri Bazar and at Dadar. Munde added that the Centre had then talked about opening its coffers instead the centre has not released any extra funds of the city till today.
Commenting upon NCP chief Sharad Pawar’s assertion that the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance never approached him to seek more funds for Mumbai, the BJP leader remarked that the Sena-BJP is aware that the NCP chief has no weight-age in Delhi and hence they did not approach him for assistance. Referring to Pawar’s claim that despite having the numbers in 1995, he allowed the Sena-BJP to form the government in the state, Munde retorted that given the craving for power Pawar has it is highly unlikely that he would have let go the chance to form the government.
Munde further remarked that Pawar today is only concerned about BCCI and Lavasa. When asked to comment upon NCPs deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s outbursts against him he said that it was only expected after he had demanded a CBI inquiry into the alleged corruption in the Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank which has resulted in the bank incurring losses to the tune of Rs.1,600 crores. Munde added that Pawar junior has been the member of the Bank for the last 25 years.
