Somaiya has also demanded an SIT or CBI probe into what he claims are seven scams involving former Civil Aviation minister, Praful Patel. He told newspersons that Subhash Ghai's Whistling Woods company was allocated 20 acres of land in Hyderabad, New Delhi and Rajasthan, and he wanted to know who was the godfather behind all these land deals.
The BJP leader stated that although NCP chief Sharad Pawar has denied the bribery charge made by the Canadian newspaper in the Cypromatic security equipment purchase deal for Air India, the union government must make public the details of the report sent by the Canadian government in the issue.
Somaiya demanded a probe into the special plan made by MMRDA for the Mumbai airport which seeks to give benefit of Rs.10,000 crore to a private firm. He demanded that the government should publish the transcripts of the alleged conversation seized during the raids, between Hawala operator Hasan Ali and NCP’s union Heavy Industries minister, Praful Patel.
The BJP leader claimed that after the privatization of Mumbai and Delhi airports, the private company owned by Patel's daughter was given the contract of providing facilities like car parking, etc, which has resulted in a loss of Rs.64,000 crore to the state exchequer. Somaiya added that in another case relating to rehabilitation of slums on airport land in Mumbai, the TDR was given to a builder even before the rehabilitation was done. The deal again means a loss of Rs.5,000 crore to the state exchequer.
