Crawford market — the quintessential bazaar for just about everything, from chocolates to fruits, from cheese to cutlery and even kitchen items. A part of the market is known as the pet area, for it sells pets of all kinds- from the conventional cats, dogs, fishes and birds to rabbits, hamsters, turkeys, ducks, pigeons and even exotic macaws. Amidst this hullabaloo and constant noise is nestled the cozy little shop which goes by the name Rafat Khan and Sons. This shop is hard to miss as it is the very first shop in the pet area. Though the shop is quiet small, it is filled with practically everything a pet parent needs.
The shop is full with all sorts of pet food- for dogs, for cats and for birds. From the most popular to foreign brands, everything is available here. They also have a range of pet accessories like leashes, collars, shoes, tees, sweaters, shampoos, grooming equipment and even rain gear. The rear end of the shop houses birds for sale like the easily available lovebirds, parrots, macaws and even African Grey Parrots. They even deal in other animals like cats and dogs. The ‘bird room’ is quiet clean and the birds are maintained and looked after.
The shop attendant, Javed Khan, is very helpful and will happily give you tips on training and grooming and will guide you to the right products for your pet. Right from the nutritional values of a specific packaged food to what food suits which breed, Khan is quiet knowledgeable and will help you zero down on just the right thing. He will even suggest remedies for pet problems like fleas, ticks or behavioral problems like scratching furniture or peeing inside the house. A helpful and informative shop attendant is another plus point of this store.
The only drawback of the shop is space. The shop looks quiet congested with all the products and it is difficult to locate any item of your choice without the help of a shop attendant. All in all, a one-stop-shop for all your petting needs.
