For the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections in Uran, around 40 candidates will be battling for 12 seats.
With 46 nominees already having withdrawn their forms, the battle is set for the four seats of ZP between 14 candidates followed by 26 candidates battling for eight seats.
Sources state that in some areas, some nominees who have not withdrawn their nomination forms have created a battle ground between INC –NCP, Shiv Sena – BJP as well.
Monday was the last day of nomination withdrawal, thus several senior leaders from warring parties had rushed to Uran to convince candidates to drop their nominations.
Senior leaders from Maharashtra Congress Samiti confirmed that, NCP leaders have already sounded the war-horn against us when Congress joined forces with Prakash Ambedkar’s Bharipa (Bharatiya Republican Party) Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) for the Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti elections.
Speaking to media representatives, Ambedkar had already conveyed that, NCP will be threatened as they do not have an alliance with Congress. “Our main targets are the communal forces that have shaken the political condition of the state. I feel that with Congress we can triumph and even prove our worth,” said Ambedkar.
