Learn Thai Yoga Massage
This Sunday, head down to Temperance — The Culture Hub, where they are hosting a Thai Body Workshop. The workshop will be conducted by yoga practitioner Samamta Duggal and will use Thai massage to relax and energise you. Apart from just being relaxing, Thai massage can also be used as alternative therapy for issues such as sciatica, spondylitis, arthritis, migraines, indigestion and menstrual dysfunction. Speaking about her workshop, Samamta tells us, “Thai massage is an art I have been practicing, learning and teaching for the past nine years. It helps release deep rooted stress that we hold in our muscles and joints. It opens up our energy lines through acupressure and stretches.” She also tells us a surprising fact about Thai massage, “Few people know its origins were actually in India! It originated around the time of Buddha and was used as alternative medicine. At the workshop, we will start the practice with a few surya namaskars and then work on each other giving and receiving Thai yoga massages and working on areas such as the feet, back neck and shoulders where we commonly hold tension.”
