Bags and Dresses @ Tambourine
A new collection of bags and dresses called Ikat designed by Divya Mohta is being presented at Tambourine. Ikat is the method of weaving that uses a resist dyeing process similar to tie ‘n’ dye on either warp or weft fibers of materials and that’s the style of the collection. The garments in rich silks are a good mix as they reflect modernity even though the traditional Ikat motifs have been used. There’s a range of elegant drapes, re-interpreted to be playful, fun and dramatic. Divya tells us, “I have worked with a mix of traditional weaves, world textile traditions, indigenous motifs, embroideries and dyeing techniques, all translated into signature, one of a kind print patterns.”
