Oktoberfest comes to Mumbai
Here’s what’s happening in Mumbai.
The world’s largest beer festival, Oktoberfest, has been making its presence felt in Mumbai these last few years. In Germany, it is held annually in Munich and is a 16-18 day folk festival, with more than six million people globally turning up for the good times. Oktoberfest goes back to the year 1810 and is an important part of Bavarian culture.

Kaitlyn celebrates Oktoberfest up to October 10. Introducing a new concept to this year’s Oktoberfest, Kaitlyn’s offers a hands-on experience of a Live BBQ at your table priced at Rs 1499. The menu consists of specials like Pork belly bruschetta, Pork ribs, Malai broccoli, a BBQ platter paired with freshly brewed beers on tap like Apple Cider, Flying Pig, Bira White and Blonde and Stouts.

Gateway Taproom
Gateway Brewing Co’s craft beers are set to shake things up with two specially designed variants Bomberg—a smoked beer inspired by the smoked beers of Bamberg in Germany and Oktoberfest, a toasty, caramel lager made with locally sourced Munich and Vienna malts. On offer will also be their German style in-house beers like the White Zen and Doppelganger along with other favourites like Side Car, apple cider and Citra IPA, Valencia Orange Wheat. The menu includes Käsespätzle, Mushroom Stroganoff, Half Roast Chicken, Curry Wurst along with the special Oktoberfest all-day breakfast offering. Gateway Taproom strongly recommends its Roasted Bavarian Pork Knuckle: crispy skin on the outside and juicy meat. There’s also a German version of pasta called Käsespätzle, and much more to choose from. Relish these to authentic German music.

Novotel imagica Khopoli
With German beer, food and thumpingly energetic live karaoke, the event has been carefully crafted to bring in the spirit of Germany right here. The festival kicked off from September 22.
Bavarian delicacies crafted by Executive Sous Chef Lokesh include dishes such as Sauerkraut, Bratwurst, Pretzel, Schnitzel, Rostbraten and more. The hotel has curated an entire range of cocktails with beer, for the not-so-big-on-beer crowd at a special rate of Rs 499 plus taxes.

Meat lovers can choose an appetiser from an assorted list, including Chinese-styled crispy and spicy Chicken Chilli, Sriracha Chicken Satay with Garlic Sauce, Chicken Croquettes and Batter fried Fish and Chips with Tartare Sauce. Detox meal
Visit The Clearing House at Ballard Estate this weekend for their second healthy detox brunch on Saturday, September 29. The Clearing House and RAW Pressery have collaboratively created a brunch menu that innovatively incorporates the brand’s juices into a wide range of gluten-free brunch dishes. These include salads like Radicchio with Asian Pears, with walnuts and cranberries and a berry banana dressing made using RAW’s ‘Life’ smoothie (strawberry, blueberry, banana, pineapple); dim sums such as Steamed Edamame in a broth made from RAW’s ‘Lean’ smoothie (kiwi, kale, apple, mint and cucumber). In the dessert section, Pastry Chef Husna Jumani has used RAW’s newest offering – cacao almond milk, to create Almond Chocolate Pudding with fresh berries and jaggery coconut crumble. Guests who prefer something lighter can try Orange Sorbet made from RAW’s Valencia orange juice. If you need a tipple, sample a skinny cocktail made with RAW’s juices.
