Patra Ni Machi

Danesh Vakshoor, Chef de Cuisine of SodaBottleOpenerWala , shares his recipe for this timeless classic


One Coconut                                   
Coriander 250 gm                           
Mint 50 gm                                       
Garlic 40 gm                                      
Green chilli 50 gm                          
Lemon juice 40 ml                          
Whole jeera 15 gm                        
Sugar (optional) 30 gm                 
Pomfret(250gm) three pcs                        
Ginger garlic paste 10 gm


1 Wash coriander, mint, coconut, green chilli.                    

2  In a grinder blend coconut, whole jeera, coriander, mint garlic and green chilli to a paste.         

3 Season it with salt, lemon juice and sugar depending on  taste.

4 Clean pomfret and cut it into desired size.                       

5 Apply ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, salt to fish and allow to rest for one hour in refrigerator.              

6 Then apply the coconut coriander paste to the fish and wrap it with banana leaf and cook in steam.

7 Serve Patra ni machi with warm rotli.

Tiara, the multi-cuisine all-day dining restaurant at Meluha, The Fern, Powai, celebrates Navroz- Parsi New Year with Executive Chef Prashant Tikadia showcasing a traditional Parsi feast on August 17, 18 and 19.

Non-vegetarian starters include Marghi Na Farcha, Sali Per Eda and Rawadar Machali. Vegetarians can relish Patra nu Paneer, Khatta Mitha Papeta and Keda Na Cutlet.

The main course delights for the special dinner include Jardalu Marghi, Safed Mutton Pulao, Tarapori Prawn Patio, Roast Chicken with Apple Sauce, Beef Stew, Bharuchi Paneer, Kaju Karela, Tadela Bhenda nu Shaak and Khatta Papeta. Round it all off with Mawa Ni Boi, Mithu Dahi and Lagan Nu Custard, Khopra Kesar No Pak and more.

Four live counters will offer Parsi favorites such as Khari, Surti Butter, Kadak Pav,  Masala Cha,  Ghanti Wali Ice Cream and  Eda Ni Dukan.

The thalis come with Parsi favourites such as Raspberry, Ginger, Lemon and Masala Soda.
