Gold and silver Kandies from Nordic Kandie
Nobody should wait for a special occasion to gorge on sweets. The gold and silver treats from Nordic Kandie are a reason enough for celebration. Getaway to Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary

Head to the Tungareshwar Wildlife Sanctuary that is situated at the north of the Sanjay Gandhi National Park for a quick getaway from the city. The trail is lined with dense mixed deciduous forest and the sanctuary forms a corridor for animals of the Tansa Wildlife Sanctuary. During this winter, you can spot a variety of birds including the Rufous Treepie, White Wagtail, Ashy Drongo, Yellow-eyed Babbler, Crested Serpent Eagle, Brown-headed Barbet, Shikra and the Verditer Flycatcher. The excursion is priced at Rs 700 for members and Rs 800 for non-members. The cost includes transportation, entry into the sanctuary and the expertise of a BNHS guide. “A cold winter morning walk through this forest is very refreshing. The sanctuary hosts migratory birds during this season,” says Asif N. Khan, associate officer of programmes department.

Imagination of Color by Tapas Maiti

Artist Tapas Maiti’s exhibition Imagination of Color includes his paintings of cityscapes that reflect the panoramic beauty of Kolkata. A part of his series City of Colors, it illustrates the uniqueness of his medium and technique by innovatively using a spatula instead of a brush. “I’m deeply impressed by the norms of space, urbanisation and modernism in Kolkata, it’s colourful hues and how it changes with every season”, Tapas tells us. The paintings capture the vibrance of the city in vivid images.
