EXHIBITION
Prêt-à-Porter collection at The Bombay Carousel
The Bombay Carousel has organised an exhibition where new and talented designers will showcase innovative prêt-à-porter and home wear collections. The new talent includes Delhi-based Neha Taneja, Kolkata-based Gargi Gupta, ‘Saffron’ by Aditi from Mumbai and Sonam Parmar from Pune. The exhibition will also host a wide range of home and gifting accessories from Ahmadabad-based ‘Unfold’ by Nandini Thirani. Pallavi, co-founder of The Bombay Carousel, tells us, “There are several fashion and lifestyle exhibitions that take place in Mumbai, but young upcoming designers face difficulties in getting a slot, if the show is an established one. We wanted to put together a show with a difference, so we kept it compact for our chosen designers to get the focus and attention that they deserve.” The duo, Pallavi and Svasti, is focusing on quality rather than quantity. “We kept brainstorming and rejecting ideas by the dozen, till both of us decided to do something about the huge vacuum that existed between the young and inspiring niche brands. We plan to offer this as a platform for the new-age designers in India, many of whom will be names to reckon with in the near future,” says Svasti, co-founder of The Bombay Carousel.
