Under the starry sky, overlooking the beach!

Friday, January 12, 2018

If you wish to dine under the stars, overlooking a beautiful beach as you sip on cocktails and take in the visual treat of the sunset, then Razzberry Rhinoceros is the place to be, says Sunny Rodricks

Serene and peaceful is what we felt when we walked into the Razzberry Rhinoceros lounge in Juhu. Spacious and with a pleasant, well-lit ambiance, it is a lovely place for a date, and for families and friends alike. And, the outdoor dining is the icing on the cake, which only gets better as the night wears on. Just when you think that’s enough, the cool evening breeze surrounds you, letting you enjoy a royal experience by the Arabian Sea.

Humble beginnings
We settled into our seats and looked forward to the scrumptious delicacies on their all-day menu. First up we ordered the Mexican Nachos (Rs 250) and BBQ Chicken Wings (Rs 275). The Nachos had a crunch to them and were perfectly complemented by the two-texture tomato compote and cheese sauce perfectly. The BBQ Chicken Wings were tossed in barbecue sauce and served fresh and piping hot. Not only were they oozing with barbecue sauce, but they were finger-licking good.

Next, we tried our hand at the Meat Ball with Rum Glaze Sauce (Rs 395) and the Tawa Fried Fish (Rs 495), upon the recommendation of in-house chefs Ajay Samtani and Alinder Ramola. While the former was made up of rum poached meat balls and was served hot with a Pomodoro sauce, the latter was a marinate of chilli and garam masala and was flavoured with carom seeds. We relished every bite of the fried fish as well as the rum-glazed meat balls.

Sip, dip and refresh
Refreshing drinks were due since we were sitting under the clear evening sky, overlooking the beach. So, we scrolled through their bar menu, which was aptly titled ‘Buzz Free’ and chose the Peach in Beach (Rs 200) and the Berry Frizz (Rs 200). Both drinks were pleasant to the eye and quite a bit refreshing. The Peach in Beach was a combination of orange juice, peach and lime, while the Berry Frizz had strawberry, cranberry, lime and soda among its ingredients. Together, they provided us with the respite that we were looking for after bingeing on crunchy nachos and hot fried fish. Amidst the munching, we ordered another drink, this time the Mixed Fruit Mojito (Rs 600), which complemented the main course well and was our partner in crime as the night went by.

Burger mains
With great food comes great responsibility and Razzberry Rhinoceros lives by this motto! It was time to move to the mains. And, what could be a better start than burgers? On the chef’s recommendation, we settled for the Chicken Burger (Rs 350), which had minced patties grills, spices and chipotle sauce, and the Funghi Burger (Rs 325), which was an amalgamation of farm thyme scented mushrooms with cheddar cheese, tomato salsa and mustard mayo. We savoured the chicken burger, but had a hard time finishing the mushroom one. They also have the 3’B Burger (Rs 450) on the menu, which is stuffed with beef, bacon and brie, and topped with lettuce and tomato sauce. It simply is a must-try!

Sweetness unloaded
From the limited dessert options, we chose the Caramelized Banana Crepes (Rs 295) and the Churros (Rs 275). Although we loved the way the churros were presented, they were served with chocolate and orange glaze, which didn’t quite suit our palate. But the Banana Crepes were a healthy sweet treat dipped in delicious Nutella — the perfect dish to end our sweet cravings with!

Rounding it up
If you have pictured yourself sipping on your favourite cocktails by the beach as the setting sun paints the sky with hues of orange and red, then head straight over. Not only is the Razzberry Rhinoceros spacious and friendly, but it allows you to lose yourself in the beauty of nature and the beach all at once.
