TONIGHT’S GONNA BE A GOOD NIGHT!

Friday, March 04, 2011

You don’t need to wait for the weekend anymore to have a fun night out. Henna Achhpal and Rhea Dhanbhoora chart out an entertaining plan for your entire week...

Gone are the days when you had to slog through the week to win yourself a fun-filled weekend. Restaurants, pubs and bars have a number of specials lined up all through the week to ensure that you can be in high spirits (literally and figuratively) as well as have a good time after work or before heading home. All work and no play anyway make Jack a dull boy so these special nights are a great way to de-stress after work so that you don’t take worries of the office home. Try out one or all of these specials and we’re sure you will become a regular soon.

MONDAY
Mondays are difficult on all of us — HQ understands this and has Happy Hours lined up for you all through the day. Buy one drink and get one free starting at noon and going on till 1am. While at Boat Club’s Karaoke Night, bring out the bathroom singer in you after a hard day’s work and sing along to your favourite tracks. Owner Kumar Padavi tells us, “We introduced the Karaoke nights based on customer demand and feedback and now it’s become very popular with time.”But if you’re not in the mood to sing and simply want to unwind, make your way to Irish Pub where Manager Pradyumna Panda says, “You can avail of Corporate Nights.

Simply show your visiting card and you get 33% off on your total liquor bill.” If you’re a movie buff and love the taste of Italy, Mondays are Italian Movie Nights at Casa Mia, starting at 9pm. General Manager at Casa Mia Gianfrancesco Perrone shares, “Being an authentic Italian restaurant, we have tried to imbibe the Italian culture as much as possible. As a part of the movie night, we show our guests Italian movies (with English subtitles) as another way to display Italian culture.”If you think video games have taken over the good old board games from your childhood, think again. Cool Chef Café hosts Board Game Nights every Monday and Tuesday starting at 8pm — head there for an evening of Scrabble, Taboo, Jenga and many more favourites.

TUESDAY
Tuesday nights aren’t really party nights so it gets a little tough to find something happening around the city on a Tuesday when you’re in the mood to get out. But that’s not tedious any more. If you’re a budding musician, you can head down to On Toes for a night that they like to call, ‘One Night Stand’ where you have an open platform to showcase your musical talents. However, if you’re a fan of music but can’t play an instrument or sing too well, go to Firangi Paani where they have a night of rock and retro performed by live band which starts at 8pm. Wine enthusiasts can keep the magic alive without burning a hole in their pockets at Casa Mia that offers 50% off on all Indian wines through the night. And last but not the least, if you’re a fan of the potent Irish coffee, you can buy two and get the third free at Irish Pub on Tuesdays which they like to call their ‘Irish Night’.

WEDNESDAY
You’ve made it through to the middle of the week but there are yet two days for the weekend but there’s no reason to have a mid-week crisis! Women can let their hair down at HQ’s Ladies Night and get free vodka shots at the bar. If you’ve not had enough of Karaoke, Manager at Irish Pub, Pradyumna Panda says, “Karaoke nights are very popular so we have them every Wednesday filled with English tunes along with a chance to win a lucky prize as well.” If it’s a sober night that you’re looking for, Mocha Mojo hosts Game Nites in association with Asobo starting at 8.30pm and includes fun games such as Uno Attack, Slam Boggle and many more. While the women can head to Firangi Paani for a night out with the girls and make the most of Ladies Night that offers four drinks on the house between 6pm and 10pm on Mondays and Wednesdays.

THURSDAY
Getting you into the weekend-mood a day early, Mocha Mojo has exciting offers lined up every Thursday that include one free beer for every beer you order, call for two imported beers and get the third free and for those who prefer wine — get a discount of 20% on all domestic and international wines. Women can enjoy Ladies Night at Casa Mia or Barcode 053 and enjoy special benefits of being a woman. Barcode 053 offers the ladies a free glass of red or white wine with their meal whereas you can enjoy free drinks and desserts at Casa Mia 8pm onwards while your male companions continue to look on in envy.

IT’S THE WEEKEND!
After that fun filled week, probably the weekend doesn’t matter anymore. Yet, Irish Pub invites the ladies to kick start their weekend with 3 drinks at just `99 on Fridays. You can enjoy live bands at Casa Mia says General Manager, Gianfrancesco Perrone, “On Fridays, we host performances of old time rock songs and a series of classics that create a relaxed atmosphere for our guests.” If you missed Karaoke, you can step into Soul Fry Casa for their Karaoke Saturday that bustles with a retro music loving crowd. Hard Rock Café may not seem like the ideal place to tag your kids along, but on Sundays they host ‘Baby Loves to Rock’ between 12pm to 4pm with exciting activities for your kids and a fun family brunch.

Box 1

“I love Karaoke Nights at Boat Club. They’re perfect if you want to unwind after a day at work and make a fool
of yourself with a bunch of friends. Singing is fun, especially after drinks! I also love Happy Hours at any lounge,
club or bar. They always make me feel like I’m getting good value for money.”

— Shane Fernandes, 24

Box 2

“I like to visit Mocha Mojo’s Game Nites every now and then. These days it’s difficult to find people who are
equally enthusiastic about board games as me, so it’s a great place to find like minded people and indulge in a
round of competitive Taboo with beer!”

— Nihit Bhave, 21

Box 3

“I’m a regular at Firangi Paani’s Ladies Night and I completely swear by it. Mid-week drinking, especially on the
house, works as a great stress buster and a perfect way to catch up with my girl friends. After 10pm they also
play a lot of latest hip-hop tracks that set the mood for dance.”

— Anisha Ahuja, 26
