EXHIBITION: Life Without Targets
Rhea Dhanbhoora tells you why you should head to Jehangir Art Gallery this weekend
We’re always chasing some dream or the other but have you ever thought about living life without any expectations, goals or targets? Take a step back from the rat race and spend a little time considering the prospect as that’s exactly what artist Lambodar Naik did. Realising that people spend too much time chasing their goals and failing to see the small miracles of daily life, he spent his creative energy trying to help us see beyond that. His show titled Life Without Targets, imbibes the philosophy of never having any goals.
The artist credits his work to his fight to live life after being diagnosed with Deep Vein Thrombosis when he was just 11. Influenced both by the beauty of little things and the workings of Hinduism that he saw and was part of while growing up in Orissa, he has artwork depicting the Kumbh Mela in a surprisingly different light. He was also part of the Theospohical Society that fought for the Indian Freedom Society and the first forum to fight for Women’s Education.
He tells us, “The Theosophical Society taught me about the great masters of wisdom, their lives and teachings. This soul searching and self study helped me in delving deep in to my creative insights which actually became the cause for the unfolding and flowing of my individuality as an artist.”
