There’s ‘No Such Thing’ as a disappointing John Mayer gig. Let’s hope the same goes for the tribute, says Rhea Dhanbhoora
If you’re looking for a gig to go for, you can stop your search here. One of the most mainstream artists of the 21st century is being honoured in the city. Bradley Tellis, who will be playing guitar at the show says, “The Mayer tribute was an idea we came up with together. His music is really similar to the kind that we play which is why I think doing a tribute to Mayer made the most sense for us.”
Great food, great drinks and the music of a great performer, the event is one that has already garnered enough attention. As Bradley says, “We’ve already got over 300 confirmed guests attending. It’s been one of the fastest and biggest responses for a tribute gig and I think it’s because John Mayer is just so incredibly popular in the city.”
Bradley himself acknowledges the singer. He says, “I’m a huge Mayer fan myself. His music is brilliant and he’s a great performer.” With commercial hits such as Your Body Is a Wonderland as well as audience favourites such as Stop This Train and Neon, the gig is sure to draw in a bigger crowd than most events.
They will be performing hand picked tracks from all his solo albums as well as a selection of hits from the ‘John Mayer Trio’ albums as well. So can we expect a stellar performance just like a John Mayer concert? “He’s a great performer. We’re going to try and give people the entire Mayer experience,” Bradley adds.
Apart from Bradley, the collective of artists coming together to bring this evening to you include Vinay Lobo on guitar, Sanaya Ardeshi on keys, Adil Kurwa on bass and Aditya Ashok on drums. The night will also feature various other guest artists.
So do head on down to experience some brilliant music. “It should be a whole lot of fun,” as Bradley aptly puts it.
