Small Time Wonder

Friday, August 26, 2011

In a city where people are racing against the clock, NeXtime in Haji Ali has opened an outlet just in time, says Dev Goswami

Time is money, and this adage completely holds true at NeXtime’s outlet in Haji Ali. The prices of the clocks on display are on the high side, but we guarantee you that this factor will not be playing on your mind as you enter this shop. All you see as you enter is clocks, clocks and more clocks. Except for a small desk in a corner, there is no space on the four walls that has remained uncovered.

Owner Silky Kothari, hit upon the idea when she was renovating her own home. She tells us, “I found it very hard to get good quality and aesthetically appealing clocks in India. To fulfill my wish, I had to get clocks from abroad.” This unavailability of good clocks in India made Silky tie up with NeXtime. And the shop shows us that the result of the tie up was really good. From the simplest clocks which start at `1,500 to a huge ceiling clock (`85,000) this shop has a lot of options for you to choose from.

Another thing to be noticed at NeXtime is that the products are quite exclusive. At any given point of time (sorry, we can’t resist the puns!), there are just 250 designs existing in the world. And every year, 40 new designs are brought out while 40 of the old ones are discontinued.

The store has a lot of options but the Stick On Clock (`7,900), which has the ability to stick to any surface and the Plain Jane Clock Hands (`2,800) caught our fancy. Also on display are cartoon inspired clocks for childrens’ room (`2,000).

If you’re doing up your home or just need a little extra time, step into NeXtime.
