That’s what newly launched fashion website Voonik.com promises you. Dev Goswami logs on to find out how it fares
One of the most important features of a website is its ability to catch your attention and make you want to check it out in detail. Voonik certainly succeeds there. Their homepage has a hard-to-miss banner that tells you about the website’s ability to handpick clothes and accessories for you based on your style. Needless to say, that was the very first thing that I checked out.
After signing up (which won’t take more than a few seconds), I was asked to fill in my body type, gender and height. On the next page you have to choose the occasions that are most relevant/recurring in your life. Options include casual social, casual business, formal business, sports, traditional Indian, fine dining and such. I was then shown a recommendation page, filled with products and merchandise that the website (or as they like to call it, ‘your stylist’) feels will be most suited for you.
While I liked the concept, I felt that the execution could have been more detailed. They do nothing which cannot be achieved by applying a few filters on a normal website. When they say ‘style profile’ I was expecting more on the lines of cuts and silhouettes. The one saving grace is that they ask you for your skin tone and suggest clothes which would suit it.
Coming to the collection available, they have clothes from a number of popular fashion brands so the quality and styles are, expectedly, quite good. The range of options is vast and all kinds of clothing can be found on Voonik. The overall layout is simple and each item has a small ‘Ask the Stylist’ tab where you can ask them about anything that you’d like to know — another thing that impressed us.
Prices are similar to what you’ll find on most websites — Rs 500 - Rs 1,500 with the average price around Rs 900 - Rs 1,000.
Overall, I like their concept, but it needs a bit more work. Their ‘Style Quiz’ needs to be more detailed rather than the 30-second one they have right now.
However, do check out the website — their collection justifies that.
