The second edition of the music festival Nariyal Paani is back! Purva Indulkar tells you why you should book now so you can head to Alibaug for a weekend full of music and leisure
Overcrowded pubs and restaurants, and a preponderance for commercial tracks in the city’s music scene means that it’s not easy to find a space where you can relax with friends and listen to good music. So, a weekend in sunny, sandy Alibaug, filled with Indian musicians and music enthusiasts sounds like the perfect plan. The 2nd edition of Nariyal Pani is going to be a two-day affair that will showcase some of the most well-known musical acts in the country. You will have to take a short boat ride from the Gateway of India to the shores of Alibaug to reach the venue, It’s around 20 minutes away from Mandwa Jetty and there is a campsite attached to the festival grounds for accommodation. The performances will span genres such as indie, electro-pop, alternative rock, ska, hip-hop and folk music. Festival-goers can look forward to sets by Vasuda Sharma, Feyago, Ska Vengers, Begum, Prateek Kuhad, ZAP and Laxmi Bomb. Sid Khanna, the organiser, tells us, “Nariyal Pani is the perfect weekend getaway for those who want to enjoy some of life’s simplest pleasures — the ocean, coconut palms, camping, great food, blue skies and a great soundtrack!”
