With 1650 dialects, 22 languages and 13 scripts under one roof, the Gateway Lit Fest will be a dreamy affair. Providing platforms to writing in Indian languages, the festival promotes an integration of languages. And for this year’s festival, the theme is ‘Women Power in Indian Literature’, bringing in the biggest gathering of women writers. Executive Director Joseph Alexander of the Gateway Lit Fest, says, “Each Indian language stream has a vibrant list of established and upcoming women authors who are popular in their own territories by their own merits. But at the national level, we don’t celebrate their works and brilliance as we do in the case of those authors writing in English. This is an attempt to bring them to the national focus.”
