If you love jazz, Rhea Dhanbhoora suggests you visit to the NCPA this weekend
If you love jazz, the NCPA is where you should be this weekend. Head down there tonight for a great evening filled with jazz music. Jazz @ NCPA is a music concert that will treat you to the works of four dazzling jazz artists from around the world. Get ready to watch Bill Evans on saxophone and Ranjit Barot on drums as well as Etienne Mbappe on bass and Marc Guillermont on guitar.
Bill Evans has played with Miles Davis in his electric, funky period and Ranjit Barot was a part of John McLaughlin’s summer tour through Europe along with French guitarist Marc Guillermont. Mbappe is not new to Mumbai and growing up in Cameroon, was greatly influenced by Louis Armstrong’s strong sound.
Consultant to the NCPA and member of the NCPA Jazz Committee, Romit Chaterji says, “The NCPA plans to curate and organise frequent jazz performances all year round. This will finally culminate in an annual jazz festival at the end of the year. The NCPA’s high quality performances have grown in stature over time and have greatly contributed in instilling a love for jazz amongst the city’s music aficionados.”
The concert will be presented in association with blueFrog and is supported by the Tata Group, so if you’re a student, you’ll get special discounts on tickets. Reserve your seats quickly because they are limited and are filling up quite fast.
