Tappu ki Dukaan has more than just fun stuff. Shalvi Mangaokar tells you
why it’s worth checking out
In the posh locality of South Bombay, it’s hard to find stuff that’s wacked out and completely different. Tappu ki Dukaan is an exception. Located at Fort, it may be a little difficult to spot this store, but once you do, it’s hard to not come back for more.
Sneha Raisoni, owner, should definitely be given credit for coming up with an idea like this. Tappu being her pet name, it wasn’t hard for her to name the store Tappu ki Dukaan. As you enter, you’re welcomed to a variety of products, from small to big and in a variety of colours too. Sneha says, “I wanted to do something different. There are no fun stores around South Bombay and I wanted to come up with something unique. And since this was my own place, I could experiment with an idea like this.”
This Dukaan has everything. Right from funky coasters (`550) which have Bollywood lines to bags (`330) and cushion covers (right: `250).
What we really liked was the fact the not one product was like the other. It’s not everywhere that you get shot glasses (`300) where one reads ‘size’ and
the other ‘zero’.
Apart from these, they also have candles. Now what can be so different about candles? Well, the fact that the have candles (`125) in your roadside cutting chai glasses which from far away are hard to recognise. Marilyn Monroe boxes, funky boxers (`330), crazy photo frames (`300) and a lot more. Sneha has done everything it takes make this store so special.
And the store is pretty eco-friendly too. They have small diaries (`40) and journals which are made out of elephant poop. Sounds fun right? We give Tappu’s dukan a thumbs up!
