The Extra Mile Café workshops now has a dedicated home at the AND store in Khar. Rhea Dhanbhoora finds out more...
Those of you who are mourning the loss of Schokolaade at the AND store in Khar, don’t worry. It’s made way for The Extra Mile Café, where you can try your hand at various hobbies and hone your skills with their one day workshops.
The café is small but by no means cramped. The warm interiors make it cosy for an evening of interesting workshops and classes. The workshops from Extra Mile used to be conducted at different café venues across the city, but we’re glad they have finally found a dedicated home.
Unlike a normal café, this one doesn’t have any in house food. But, if you enroll for one of their classes you can indulge in some great food and beverages from restaurants that dot the area. They also hold free movie screenings, with popcorn and samosas on the house.
They have a range of free workshops on Mondays that include table etiquette, work from home options, poker lessons and movie screenings. Workshops through the week include Creative Writing with renowned writer Sathya Saran, Self Defense Classes by Reebok instructors, Bartending, Personal Styling, Makeup & Hair Styling, Photography and Home Décor classes. Their schedules, cost and details of workshops are put up every month on their website as well as on their Facebook page. So, you can keep track of what’s coming up and enroll yourself. It’s a small café with limited seats, so register soon if interested.
As far as the décor goes, the café hasn’t changed much since it housed Schokolaade, with the same yellow walls, quirky orange lights and round tables and chairs. What has changed though is that there are now little boards with fun sayings lining the wall and a pull-down projector to screen movies and presentations during the workshops.
