Photography lovers, amateurs and professionals alike will love what’s sweeping over the country this month. Called Fete De La Photo 2014 – A Photo Festival in Public Space, it’s an 11-city event than has been organised by Institut Francais en Inde, the French Embassy in India and the Alliance Francaise in India. The month-long festival will celebrate the diversity of modern day photography and will showcase collections in museums and galleries across the country.
The festival kicks off in Mumbai on February 2 and 5, with a mobile photo booth with photographer Anay Mann, who will be using backdrops of French places to click photos of the public. Catherine Oden, director of Atout France says, “France holds appeal to attract families, DINKS, honeymooners and friends on a holiday as well as budding sommeliers. Its range of picturesque locales and quaint villages ensure that there are enough options for every visitor coming to France.” So, if you can’t get the real deal just yet, make do with the photography festival. Also, on February 13 and 20, you can visit Nehru Planetarium for the Astrophotography by internationally renowned astrophotographers Laurent Laveder, Thierry Legault and Ajay Talwar. Also, budding photographers pay attention — there’s an exciting photo treasure hunt taking place all over Mumbai through the entire month of February which seems promising.
