The 6th edition of Mumbai’s largest international literary festival brings together an eclectic mix of the world’s most notable authors. This year, the four-day festival is being held at two locations — the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA), Nariman Point and at Prithvi Theatre, Juhu — thanks to the successful premiere of the festival at Prithvi last year. Among the 120 celebrated writers and thinkers are Egyptian-American author Mona Eltahawy, who is in the news for her recent book, Headscarves and Hymens, Germaine Greer, one of the pioneers of the international feminist movement, popular authors such as Vikram Seth and Hussain Zaidi and eminent novelist and playwright Kiran Nagarkar, who will be receiving the Tata Literature Live! Lifetime Achievement Award. Author, Vikram Seth tells us, “Being a Calcuttan by birth and a Dilliwala by descent, Bambai meri jaan has always fascinated me. So, I look forward to attending this festival. Having attended the Mumbai LitFest once before, I know that my usual nervousness, when I speak or read, will be more than balanced by the pleasure of meeting other writers — and, needless to say, readers.”
