Shravan is the most auspicious month in the Hindu calendar and is observed as a period of fasting, known as Phal Ahar or "Faraal”. In this time, any form of cultivated grain is forbidden, but foods derived from fruit or items found growing wild are permitted. Soam has taken the traditional ingredients allowed during the period and created faraali versions of dishes, some of which have never been part of a menu before.
