That is exactly what Dev Goswami did when he visited Amohaa Spa & Salon in Vashi. Read on to find out why...
Amohaa Spa & Salon is situated in a tiny nook of a huge mall, so you might have some trouble finding it. Even though I had a valid excuse (I travelled all the way from Bandra to Vashi!), I was embarrassed with my ragamuffin look once I entered the spotless spa. Amohaa has a room devoted to foot spa therapies and can cater to twelve people in one session, giving you the option to book the whole room for a group of people.
The salon is clearly demarcated in terms of ambience. While the spa has dim lighting and soft music playing in the background, the salon is brightly lit with no music. The salon services start from `100 and go up to `1,000.
Before I began my spa session, I was asked to fill out a form listing any injuries or medical conditions that I might have. This, they told me, allows them to customise my therapy.
The full body massages start from `2,000, while the foot spa therapies start from `700. You can also opt for body wraps, which are priced at `1,800 for a 30 minute session. I opted for a normal Swedish Full Body massage with oil (`2,000) and as you walk towards your room, you can almost feel the hustle and bustle of the city life being left behind and your mind begins to relax. During the massage, my mind switched off and, though I don’t remember, I may have dozed off for a bit.
Apart from the occasional, ‘Is the pressure strong enough?’ the masseuse didn’t trouble me with any talk, allowing me to slip into a deep relaxation.
I ended my session with a steam bath, which you can replace with a Jacuzzi session for an extra `2,000. I was served green tea and watermelon chunks, which was a nice end to the rejuvenating experience. I entered the spa looking exhausted, but I left refreshed and smiling.
