
FASCINATED BY BULL
Ratan Krishna Saha, the well-known artist from Kolkata has been sculpting for over 20 years and has several solo as well as group shows in India and abroad to his credit. Ratan is eclectic in his sculptural approach as he imbibes inspiration from various modernist sculptural styles and incorporates them for his purpose. His latest collection of artwork, titled Journey with the Bull, is an exhibition themed on tales of the bull, where each one has its own story, its own identity and every bull indicates a different character such as the Divine Touch, Urban Net, Desperation, Enlightened, Devotee, Power, Monk and Recycled. There are 18 artworks and a 15 feet installation comprising of more than 150 Nandi Bulls. Ratan says, “I have always been fascinated by the bull and the power it represents, which influenced me at different points in my life. As a sculptor I like the ‘form’ of the bull as it is a symbol of life force.”
