Born in Ahmednagar and based in Pune, Harshad Kamble has mastered fashion, art and portrait photography. Having assisted well-known photographer Vikram Bawa, he is now presenting his collection of dance portraits in the city. The photographs use colours against the movements of the dancers to express emotions — the shades transform into shapes, forms and lines that tell a story. The juxtaposition of bold and bright colours next to each other creates an artistic contrast within the frame. About his subject, Harshad says, “Dance is like a story; a story of the spiritual journey of human beings. Dance often creates a fantasy world, or offers us a deeper look into familiar settings. It brings to life what we feel, but are unable to express physically. Similarly, it is easy to take colour for granted. After all, it is how we see the world every day. But, colour plays such an integral part in our emotions and in our perception of the world around us.”
