Myths in modern Context
Ali Akbar Mehta, grandson of the well renowned Tyeb Mehta, is ready with his first solo show, titled Ballad Of The War That Never Was And Other Bastardised Myths. The show is made of five elements and will display a set of his canvas oil and acrylic paintings along with digital paintings comprising of work that has been painted on a computer and then printed on archival paper. Other than just paintings, the show will feature music that has been composed by the artist himself as well as poetry written by him.
Speaking about his show, Ali says, “My work intends to transform myth in the modern context, to re-examine and re-evaluate the relationships that we take for granted. For me, it’s a personal engagement in trying to deal with the dualities of the spiritual and the material; suffering and rapture; life and death; and to understand the mechanics of the desires that dominate our lives.” Ali is completely self taught and the variety on offer is sure to pull in the crowds.
