These international clowns are making funny business their business this weekend. Glynda Alves finds out more about India’s first clown festival
Their large feet, red noses and white faces can either scare the living day lights out of you or make you laugh. If it’s the latter then we’ve got some seriously good news for you. The first ever International Clown Festival in India is being organised by Mad Hatters and is on till the weekend. So, if you haven’t caught it already now is your chance.
This festival will be one of its kind and unique where professional clowns from all over the world will come together and showcase the talent and skills. Clowns from USA, Europe, Canada, South Africa and Malaysia will be a part of the event. There will be music, comedy, magic, balloon sculpting, juggling, unicycling, acrobatics, non-verbal entertainment and of course, lots of clowning around involved.
The show has been brought to life under the leadership of Visionary Clown, Martin D’Souza, Director of Light House Entertainment Pvt. Ltd. Martin, who is the first professionally trained clown in India, says, “Internationally, clowning is serious business. For the first time, India will now witness an immense potential in the form of art and career. This is an opportunity to open a new genre of entertainment. It’s an initiative to make India the next Cirque du Soleil venue and nurture talent for international arena.” So get ready to clown around this weekend.
