As always, Sunburn is set to woo the crowds. Shalvi Mangaokar finds out what’s in store this December
The three-day Electronic Dance Music Festival is back. Sunburn is a fantastic combination of entertainment,food, shopping and lifestyle. Ranked as the ninth best festival in the world, Sunburn is a Percept property owned by Shailendra Singh in partnership with Nikhil Chinappa. Shailendra says, “Every year, electronic music fans make a pilgrimage to Goa’s Candolim beach, to experience a lineup of the world’s best EDM artists and young, talented DJ’s. The experience extends beyond music, with activities such as rock climbing, beach volley ball and more.” He continues, “We are proud of the response and appreciation and the excitement the festival garners.”
The headliners of the 2010 festival are Ferry Corsten, Axwell and BT. Also showcasing their talent will be Sultan & Ned Shepard with Nadia Ali (Live), Richard Durand, GMS, Pete Gooding, Aly & Fila and a plethora of renowned DJs such as Pearl, Ma Faiza, Sanjay Dutta and many more. Raffael of Bay Beat Collective (BBC) says, “We performed at Sunburn last year as well. Since our music is not mainstream, this gives us huge scope to experiment. It’s wonderful that Sunburn has taken the Indian music scene to an international level.”
This year introduces the Sunburn Anthem Contest (SAC). SAC is for potential audio and visual producers who would like a shot at fame. Those participating in the visual category will get an opportunity to make a visual for a B.R.E.E.D. track which will be submitted to a panel of Judges. The audio category is for those who think they have the creativity to make a fresh remix of Nadia Ali’s ‘Love Story,’ the anthem of the festival. The Sunburn Anthem Jury members are Nadia Ali, B.R.E.E.D., and Sultan and Nikhil Chinappa. The Sunburn Visual Jury members are BLOT, Elsie Nanji and Kumal Rawat. The winners will be announced at the Blue Frog on December 3 which kick starts the Sunburn Anthem Tour.
