Rhea Dhanbhoora speaks to the English electronic music group Above & Beyond about their trip to Mumbai, their music and what it’s really about
Above & Beyond recently took Mumbai by storm with an upbeat concert last weekend. Performing for the Vh1 Supersonic Arcade in Pune, Mumbai and Bangalore on November 27, 28 and 29, they left the crowd screaming for an encore. We got them to answer three quick questions about their music!
What do you love about Mumbai?
Mumbai is like the London of India — very international. It’s a melting pot representative of internationalism. We’re fascinated by big, metro cities.

We don’t begin with the thought of making an entire album — we write songs and it is a gradual process of getting there rather than doing all the tracks at once. Our songs are an outpouring of our lives around that specific period.
Who are your biggest inspirations — electronic and otherwise?
I listen to pop music specifically film scores. I have to say John Depney and Hans Zimmer are a huge inspiration for me in terms of film scores
