Pamper yourself at Sabai Foot Spa says Samreen Samad
Along with clothes and shoes, even spas from Bangkok have invaded our malls. I frown upon the concept of a spa being located in a mall, since it’s one of the most noisy and crowded places… how can you relax? But I think Sabai Foot Spa is probably an exception.
‘Sabai’ in Thai loosely means ‘well being’ or ‘feel good’. This is quite an apt name for the Thai spa owned by Deepak Jindal and his Thai wife. Reaching the spa can be a bit annoying, but once you open the door and enter the spa, you’re transported to a calm environment amidst wooden interiors and mellow flute music.
The aroma diffusers are a bit too strong, but everything in the spa is imported from Thailand which adds its authenticity. As I entered, I was welcomed with Thai tea by smiling faces all around (quite comforting).
Sabai only offers foot massages which is a good thing as they concentrate only on that. The spa menu has exactly five kinds of massages which won’t confuse you too much. Thai traditional (`1,000), Thai traditional with herb bun (`1,350), Thai traditional with scrub (`1,500), Thai traditional with volcanic stones (`1,750) and Thai traditional foot massage with back, head and shoulder with two therapists (`2,035). All foot massages have a complimentary and much appreciated 15 minute head, back and neck massage.
I went in for the two therapist massage which lasted for a good 60 minutes. I was taken in a dimly lit room which had six recliners placed next to each other and they were filled with people. Their blissful state of mind showed on their faces. I sank into the comfortable chair and let the therapists pamper me. The massage started with a quick warm water bath, followed by stretches and the regular massage which consisted of pressing, rubbing and kneading. The other therapist massaged my face, head, back and shoulders. The therapy ended with ginger tea and two slices of apple. Beautifully blissful!
I recommend Sabai to everyone who wants to experience a good massage by well trained masseuses. Shelling out some money here for relaxation seems totally worth it.
