Strokes of Inspiration
Picasso, Monet and Rembrandt are often alien words in a kid’s dictionary, but they don’t have to be any more. Kids will love The American Institute of Enrichment’s new Art Appreciation course because it’s taught with simple, interactive and fun methods, enabling the kids to grasp the artist’s culture, techniques and inspirations. And parents will love it because the course, which is in six month modules, provides a well rounded exposure to world renowned artists, their works and the implementation of their signature styles in children’s own creations.
The AIE is a concept based educational organisation, providing innovative and exciting programs for students. Co-founded and initiated in Mumbai by entrepreneurs and Alumni from Georgia Institute of Technology.
Jay Parekh, the executive director and founder of the American Institute of Enrichment, urges educators and parents to involve art as a serious part of education that has direct influence on overall success. He says, “At the AIE, art has a deep rooted and crucial role in the mental development of every student regardless of their professional goals and aspirations. In today’s highly competitive environment, creative skills and analytical skills cannot be
compartmentalised. Art is one of the most effective, engaging and fun mental exercises to bridge the creative right brain with the analytical left brain.”
The course is available for a wide age group of children from five to fourteen. The institute values the inclusion of art as part of holistic learning from the very beginning. Their view is that art must be introduced to children at an early stage and continued and developed through the years in new and interesting ways that can connect with the kids while maintaining high levels of interest.
For those who are not sure of the timings, what with school and the busy schedules, there’s a solution. The program is easy to implement for schools as well as parents. The AIE conducts after school programs as well.
They also offer programs such as interactive math and science for children aged 5-10, data analysis, public speaking and problem solving. You can visit their website for more information about the classes at www.theaie.org.
