After working for 30 years with Air India, Aruna Masca-renhas, who has a penchant for oil painting, showcases her collection, Petals & Plumage, on the spirituality of nature. Her first exhibition, Tranquil Spaces, had a spiritual tone, as it traced the steps of Gautama Buddha on his path to enlightenment. Blossoms and Birdsong, her second exhibition, focused chiefly on flowers and birds, displaying three different styles — natural, stylised and oriental. “For me, painting is a form of meditation, where I reach deep within. This is reflected in my paintings by the subtle palette of colours, the light, almost water colour style of my paintings in oil on canvas, and in the emotive power of the paintings that exude the peace, tranquility and happiness I experience when painting. As the proceeds go entirely to charity, this could be called art with a heart, from the heart,” she tells us. All the money collected from the sale of her exhibition will go to Shanti Avedna Sadan, an NGO that works for the terminally ill, and SNEHA, an NGO that aims to improve the life of women in slums.
