Poetic Episodes
Sometimes art can really surprise you, and Bako Exists, Imagine, is going to do exactly that. The show is a text based work which consists of twelve paintings, with an installation of 9 wooden cabinets and is based on a Gujarati poem by poet Labhshanker Thaker.
Artist Atul Dodiya has taken the simple idea of chalk on blackboard and presented it in such a way that it looks like a touching piece of art that can really speak to audiences.
The story of the poems pictured on the paintings revolves around a young boy who meets Mahatma Gandhi while they are both asleep. They talk in a kind of fantasy world which allows and evokes childhood memories. They are presented on twelve blackboard paintings along with several autobiographical references.
