Exhibition Entering The Now By Rachna Toshniwal
Radhika tells you about Rachna Toshniwal’s first solo show, titled Entering The Now
When was the last time you walked into an art show and came out a completely different person? Maybe its time to do so this week, by visiting Kamalnayan Bajaj Art Gallery to see Rachna Toshniwal's first solo show, Entering The Now. In an attempt to involve and intertwine the art of other artists along with hers, Rachna will work with veteran artist, Surendra Rao and a visiting Belgian artist, Kris Vandenberghe at the gallery, to make art by exchanging techniques and giving each other the joy of sharing creative spaces.
As Toshniwal expresses herself through the process of painting, she also explores the complications of emotional threads that connect the self within as well as that of others. She rightfully explains, “Rarely do emotional threads run parallel in my life, they tend to intersect, overlap, entangle, loop and jump — entwining my being. Now, the tug of merging, separating and connecting pull strongly at my entangled existence — vying for attention, breathing room, space; wanting to be seen!” Through this collection Rachna has found a different language that is helping her take a radical step towards change. She says, “The untying is an unraveling, but not of the disintegrating kind. Instead, it is an unfolding, a deciphering and decoding of the involved self. And as the investigation continues, I follow the threads as they move through my being, leading to points of convergence, in a way that parallels never would.”
New Delhi born, Mumbai bred Rachna never paints with an image in her head. The art lover enjoys the process and lets her emotions decide the final look. She concludes, “At these points I find myself entering the now, following each movement as it manifests and paints itself on my canvas.”
