There’s a new high profile designer store in Khar and oh my, is it fancy! Rhea Dhanbhoora tells you more about Troy Costa
If you’re not used to stores that boast of celebrity clients and chandeliers and prefer rummaging through sales, you will feel incredibly out of place at Troy Costa.
But, if the name Troy Costa brings to mind images of fine-cut jackets and incredibly wearable suits — you will be delighted to visit the flagship store in Khar.
The atmosphere at the store is as fashionable and high end as the designer’s clothing line and it is clear that exclusivity is more important than a swarm of customers banging on their doors. Housed in a quaint villa, the store logo greets you first, with its mash of bold colours and glitter. From the wooden staircase to the gurgling water beneath it and the large glass doors to high ceilings, you know you’ve walked into luxury.
Even the dressing rooms are high on class. Open the doors and you’re greeted to a room done up from floor to ceiling in plush purple cushioning.
With patrons such as Abhay Deol, Shah Rukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham, you know the clothes at Troy Costa are a cut above. The retail section has a plethora of good designs, all of which have sleek cuts. The ties (`1,500 onwards) and cufflinks (`3,500 onwards) caught our eye as did the jackets (`15,000 onwards) with their solid colours as well as patterned prints.
The made-to-measure section is definitely one to watch, with a stream of star clients waltzing in and out. Troy Costa deals with every client personally and if you’d like an appointment with Troy himself, get prepared to wait a while as they’re always full.
We don’t recommend heading down to Troy Costa in order to buy your next suit unless you’ve got the status and money to match up. For a pair of cufflinks or a great tie though — the store is worth checking out.
