About Face recently held its launch at its flagship centre. Sara Shah tells you more
Although About Face opened its doors last year, it only held its launch this year in January. The star-studded event was glamorous and glitzy — and for good reason. Situated in Khar, the skin-care centre is spread across 1,500 sq.ft and has swanky white and purple interiors. It has one large room and two smaller rooms, where the treatments are performed. You will find a tiny room on the right, which is meant for makeup sessions. They also have a cosy seating arrangement on the left in case you have to wait for your treatments.
Stepping inside the larger room, I was reminded of a large hospital ward, except that this was whiter and brighter. Partitions divide one bed from another, and fancy gadgets and equipment neatly line the walls behind the beds. The other rooms are quite similar, with all-white interiors and even whiter beds, though smaller in size.
About Face offers a wide range of services, which will leave you spoilt for choice. Some of the services are pretty common and include Botox, fillers and stem-cell facials. If you are a Kim Kardashian follower, you’ll be happy to know that About Face offers vampire facials too, a regenerative therapy that is performed by injecting your own blood under the skin of your face. It sounds gory, but several celebrities have vouched for this treatment, and there is scientific proof of its effects, which makes this treatment worth a try. Dr. Soma Sarkar, the head of clinical aesthetics and anti-ageing services at About Face, who showed me around, said that given my age, I could pick permanent hair reductions, chemical peels or an acne and scar reduction treatment.
Judging by the star-studded audience at the launch, I’m pretty sure that their clientèle is high profile as well — in fact, I was told that they even have a back door for clients who don’t want to be seen leaving an aesthetics centre. Their treatments are affordable and start at just Rs 999. Overall, hospitable staff and inviting ambience confirmed that if I were to get an aesthetic treatment done here, I would be in good hands.
