EVENT: Brinda Miller's Solo Exhibition
Brinda Miller’s latest show is all about impulsions. Priyanka Singh tells you why you shouldn’t miss out on it
Celebrated artist Brinda Chudasama Miller is back with her 13th solo exhibition, which will display her rare talent of combining a bright palette, splashes of paint and a unique technique from being spontaneous, to structured yet free flowing. Titled Adrenaline Rush, this is Brinda’s latest work in acrylic and mixed media, and includes it luminous geometric forms set in tangential planes that shift and slide over the surface. They move like asteroids interfaced by basic forms that cut into one another appearing and disappearing as multiple washes give them momentum. Forms are worked in translucent layers that use many techniques that succeed in merging and separating colour, volume, line and texture of architectonic rhythm. These tilting planes collectively build a matrix that is meant to capture strong dimensions in compositions to achieve depth. Brinda’s paintings articulate the very same lyrical impulse, but are embedded within the abstract idiom references to local histories with relentless experimentation.
The rich earth chromatic tones touched by an inner luminosity dominate her larger canvases. They are set against jewel tones — rust orange and indigo surrounded by swathes of inky black and smoldering red. When asked about her inspiration, Brinda said, “My work is landscape based and mostly inspired by my travels all over the world. I use various mediums and multiple textures and layers to create each work of art. My works are an accidental experimentation of impulsive processes. The use of textured material and stencils, as well as other materials such as net and fabric to imprint their textures on canvas, was a discovery that deserved to be used or rather reused, and developed to give the artworks a ‘life’ of their own.”
