Barcode 053 is the newest addition to the lounges in the city. Rhea Dhanbhoora finds out if it’s worth a visit
Lokhandwalla is already teeming with pubs and lounges and although Barcode 053 doesn’t necessarily have anything new to offer, the place is worth a visit. Small and cosy, with framed music pictures lining the walls, it’s perfect for couples, or a gathering of intimate friends. You’re welcomed in with retro music and friendly service.
The high seating makes the place look spacious and gives taller people the required leg room. The decor is attractive and the bar adds to its attraction. They have an extensive drinks menu, with domestic beer for `120 and international for `300, a variety of shots up to `300 and cocktails setting you back from `250 – `400. The wine menu is also interesting, as are the two pages dedicated to just martinis.
The Crazy Cranberry and Cinderella mocktails (both `150) are a must try. The fish in oyster sauce (`180) is a dish we recommend, cooked to perfection with a sauce that keeps the flavour of the fish. The Mexican chicken supreme (`210) was just alright.
If you’re looking for some food and drink and don’t want to shell out too much or compromise on the ambience, this is the place to visit.
