French brand, Perron Rigot, has introduced a range of waxing products called Cirépil. Yamini Walia visited the Taj salon at The Taj Mahal Palace, to experience this new waxing technique
If you wince a little whenever you read the word ‘waxing’, we don’t blame you. The often painful and always troublesome technique has driven both men and women crazy for years. Good waxing salons are almost as hard to find as good wax, so we were very interested when we heard about Perron Rigot. Imagine a wax that doesn’t use wax strips, but still manages to pluck all the hair off your body! The innovative waxing technique, introduced for the first time in India, is available under the label, Cirépil. Perron Rigot is owned by the Thalgo group and is know for delivering the best waxing products to salons and spas across Europe and USA. So, when I got the opportunity to try the wax out, I couldn’t resist it.
Cirépil offers different types of waxes, each designed for separate areas. So, there is a specific wax for your face, another one for your underarms and a different one for your stomach or back. I was told that the beauty experts at the salon were given special training to use this wax.
I visited Taj salon at The Taj Mahal Palace for the treatment and it’s safe to say I was left extremely impressed. The product is specifically designed for sensitive areas, so it was a godsend for my super sensitive skin. I opted for the full wax, which included legs, arms and underarms.
The process of the waxing treatment is pretty interesting. My waxing expert applied a solution on my skin before layering on the wax, which was heated in a regular wax heater. However, it was the application that surprised me. It works as a peel-off wax, so it was applied in a circular motion to a particular area, after which it was peeled off. The wax took less than two seconds to dry, but it needed to be applied in at least three coats, so that it peeled off properly. The wax doesn’t hurt at all, but you might occasionally experience a burning sensation. However, the sensation doesn’t last for long, so you don’t need to panic. The wax’s USP is that it fulfils every woman’s dream — it’s a completely painless process!
Since peeling it off takes time, it took me around an hour and a half to get only my arms and legs waxed. So, make sure you have ample time in your hand to try out this treatment. The end result, however, was worth the time spent at the salon, as it left my skin glowing. It also did a much better job than normal wax does, reducing my in-grown hair by a large extent. I was so happy with my experience that I’ve already started recommending it to everyone I know. I recommend spending the time and the money to try it out.
