Jaipur Lit Fest
Aakriti Patni tells you about the annual literary phenomenon in Jaipur
In a collision of the finest literary minds from around the world, the Jaipur Literature Festival returns to the stage to showcase, once again, a literary phenomenon that will leave the literati spellbound. A festival that found ground in 2006, it has built its repertoire each year, and hosts nearly 2,000 speakers, welcoming over a million booklovers from across India and the globe.
Bringing together on one stage a diverse mix of the world’s greatest writers, thinkers, humanitarians, politicians, business leaders, sports personalities and entertainers to champion the freedom to express and engage in thoughtful debate and dialogue, it is truly a competition of the intellect.
This year, the festival will feature a spectacular line-up of speakers including Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter from The Boston Globe’s Spotlight team, Michael Rezendes; Sahitya Akademi Award winner, Mridula Garg; and New York Times bestselling poet and illustrator, Rupi Kaur. Set against the backdrop of Rajasthan’s stunning cultural heritage in the Diggi Palace located in the pink city of Jaipur, the four-day programme promises to be nothing short of a spectacular occurrence of intellect and literature.
