6 Sri Lankan ministers quit Sirisena-led unity govt
Six ministers of President Maithripala Sirisena-led unity government in Sri Lanka resigned today, days after they voted in favour of a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. The ministers from the Sirisena-led ruling Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), which is a coalition partner in the unity government with the Wickremesinghe-led United National Party (UNP), sent their resignation to the President late last night. "We have informed the President that we are leaving the government as of Wednesday," Disaster Management Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said.

Man arrested for killing pregnant singer in Pak: Police
Pakistan police has arrested a man who shot dead a pregnant singer at a village in southern Sindh province after she failed to stand up while singing, according to a senior police official. The man, identified as Tariq Jatoi, had ordered Samina Samoon to stand up while singing but when she could not get up due to her pregnancy he shot her dead, said Abdullah Sheikh, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG). She was rushed to a nearby hospital but she succumbed to her injuries.

Bookies predict baby girl ‘Alice’ will be born to Kate,William

Despite the fact that the royal couple do not know the gender of their third  child, punters seem convinced they have inside information and believe that the royal couple will have another princess, the Daily Express reported, citing the instincts of the British betting public. The nation is currently suffering from baby-fever, with millions trying to guess the name of the royal baby.

Afghan district governor among seven killed in Taliban attack
Taliban militants launched a pre-dawn raid on a district government compound in Afghanistan today, killing at least seven people including the local governor, officials said. Six police also died and 10 intelligence officers were wounded in the attack on the Khwaja Omari district headquarters in the southeastern province of Ghazni, the provincial governor's spokesman Aref Noori told AFP. The militants used a ladder to climb into the compound in the early hours of Thursday, deputy provincial police chief Ramazan Ali Mohsini told AFP.
