Imran calls Sharif's roadshow ‘Corruption Bachao’ rally
Pakistan's Opposition leader Imran Khan today took a dig at former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's defiant roadshow from Islamabad to Lahore, terming it a "Corruption Bachao" rally. Sharif, 67, embarked on a roadshow from Islamabad to his ruling party's stronghold Lahore yesterday in a show of strength ahead of the crucial general elections next year. The roadshow via the iconic Grand Trunk Road, which links a large part of South Asia from Bangladesh to Afghanistan, came despite security threats and drew thousands of Sharif supporters on their way to the provincial capital of Punjab.

5 dead, 50 missing as smugglers throw 180 migrants into sea
At least five migrants drowned and 50 went missing today when smugglers forced 180 Africans off a boat bound for Yemen, a day after a similar incident left 50 dead, the International Organization for Migration said. Twenty-five people were being treated for injuries on a Yemeni beach on the Red Sea, said the UN migration agency, which could not immediately confirm the nationalities of the casualties. Yesterday, people traffickers also forced more than 120 Somali and Ethiopian migrants into rough seas off Yemen to avoid arrest by local authorities, leaving at least 50 dead and 22 missing, the IOM said. IOM teams, working with International Committee of the Red Cross, found the bodies of 29 migrants in shallow graves along the coast of Shabwa province in southern Yemen who were buried by survivors.

Helicopter carrying wedding party lands in prison in B’ladesh
A private helicopter carrying a wedding party landed by mistake inside a high security prison here today, sparking massive security concerns amid reports that terrorists were planning an attack on the jail to free the militant inmates. According to the officials the guards at Kashimpur Central Jail detained the five passengers, all members of an expatriate Bangladeshi family, for a brief period but the pilot, reportedly a retired air force officer, flew away with the plane after sensing his mistake.
