Explore the imagination
The Secret Passages Team presents a week-long workshop with Theatre, Doodling and Performance-based Storytelling curated especially for Killol. Facilitators will guide children in explorations and imagination to create a ‘Meaningful Harvest’—giving space for narratives, learning to tell stories in events and fact, process-based interventions and discovery, among other things. The Circle is led by Munira Dalal.

The Workshop on Animal World (four to six years) will have tales to tell on emotions, environment and ethics. The Storytellers will narrate and engage through interactive modes and the theatre workshop will include improvisations and reflections. Doodling will create new forms and ideas to express.

Reading gets a boost
Simplifly, a learning company founded by Chandni Shah, is hosting a five-day literary summer camp called ‘Read. Write. Play’, which is designed to engage children in delightful stories through read-alouds and help improve reading comprehension.

Children will also use personal experiences and imagination to write their own stories. It will also include games and energizers that will help foster their creativity further and ensure that children have fun while learning. This camp is open to ages 5 to 13 years. While the camp for children from nine to 13 years ends on May 4, the one for younger children between five and eight takes place between May 7 and 11.

Chandni has donned several roles such as a writer, editor and educator. She has worked with Tinkle Digest, a comics magazine for children and followed it up with a three-year long stint as a facilitator for an arts-in-education program across international schools in the city. She then worked as a language educator at a school serving children with special needs. Through Simplifly, she wants to help all learners discover their true potential and inspire them to be lifelong readers and writers.

Keep them busy!
Summer vacation can be a grueling time for moms. Make sure your kids are occupied and having fun. The Little Gym, Bandra has launched their Summer Camps through fun and learning all through May until June 15, 2018.

Each class has a two-hour duration, which will target two separate batches of different age groups. There is a new theme planned for every week and classes happen anywhere between three to four times per week.

The first batch is from ages three to six and will be from 9 am to 11 am. This would include one hour of gymnastics and games, and the other will be for art and craft along with snack time. Here the focus would be on the complete development of the child where there would be gymnastics skills such as tumbling, bar swings, handstands and so on, along with learning with music, and creative thinking through role play. All this positive reinforcement helps the child making new friends and boosting their self-confidence.

The second batch is from ages 6 to 12 and will be from 10 am to 12 pm. This age group would focus on physical skills and mental reinforcement through music driven activities, learning and perfecting gymnastic skills such as handstands, cartwheels, tumbling, vaulting, bars and beams. Structured learning and creative play helps tap into their active imagination. Here the children learn to develop team and individual success along with boosting their morale and building stronger friendships.

Only children who are toilet trained will be allowed, the organisers say.
