SAG Style

Thursday, February 01, 2018

From sophisticated capes to celestial prints, this year’s SAG Awards saw several trends and styles on the red carpet. Aakriti Patni & Pearl Mathias bring you their best dressed celebrities on the evening

We’re still reeling from the gorgeous turnout at the Golden Globes and the Critics Choice Awards, and hot on their heels are these beauties that stopped us in our tracks. With striking silhouettes, delicate embellishments and dainty shades, we had a tough time singling out just a few of these divas. The black dress code still made a bold appearance, but we loved the rise of pastels in couture along with classic whites and sheer glitter dominating the field. And, many looks left us in awe — Millie Bobby Brown treading the unconventional route with Calvin Klein and Converse, and Mandy Moore and Susan Sarandon opting for a touch of sheen. But, the ones we’ve picked deserved to go to the most charming of the evening.

Laura Linney

Among the sea of celebrities who decided to sport a delicate hue of pink, what made Laura Linney’s ensemble stand out is the cape and feather detailing. With plain, side-parted hair and dramatic smoky eyes, the actress pulled together her J. Mendel gown with subtle diamond jewellery. We love her entire look!

Samira Wiley

The Orange is the New Black actress stood tall and pretty in a Tadashi Shoji Spring 2018 gown. And we loved the playful yet sophisticated celestial print on it. She sported dramatic lashes and raspberry lips, and we can’t think of anyone who might have rocked this look better!

Nicole Kidman

Kidman made waves with her empowering speech when she picked up an award for her role in the miniseries, Big Little Lies, and we can’t help but marvel at her glamorous red carpet appearance. Dressed in a shimmering copper hued Armani Privé gown, with a soft red lip and classic diamond jewellery, she pulled of the chic elegant look with finesse.

Brie Larson

Monochromatic shades and solid colours may have been picked by many on the SAG red carpet, but actress Brie Larson isn’t one to follow the norm. She brought the sparkle on to the red carpet in this patterned Gucci gown, complete with crystal embellishments and a bow detail. We simply loved the fact that glamour and bling dominated her look, especially the silvery smoky makeup.

Reese Witherspoon

Known for her clean cut classic sense of style, Reese Witherspoon chose not to deviate from her statement look and played it up on the red carpet with vibrant colours and her dazzling smile. Looking fabulous in an off-shoulder emerald Zac Posen creation, Reese chose subtle diamond rings and an emerald bracelet with which to accessorise her look.

Margot Robbie

In a blush-coloured, feather-adorned Miu Miu dress, the I, Tonya actress waltzed on to the red carpet leaving behind a trail of people in awe. Margot Robbie’s fashion style is one that is elusive yet surprisingly elegant-chic. Complete with fine Tiffany jewellery and a shimmery silver clutch, the monochromatic look sparkled among a sea of colours on the red carpet.
