Instagram isn’t teeming with food, travel and selfie shots alone. If styling, organising and crafting advice is what you seek, Pearl Mathias brings you some handles you should definitely follow

There was a time when, if you needed help sprucing up the house, you’d have to think up ways to do it yourself or turn to older, more experienced members of the family, who have been there and decorated that. But, it’s become so much easier to share ideas across the globe, and it’s all thanks to the Internet. And, if we’re talking home inspiration, what better way to do it than on the platform that sees creativity shine? If you’re looking for assistance with domestic affairs, here are a few Instagram accounts that should spark your creativity.

Good Housekeeping has been giving us the best tips and tricks not just for maintaining our homes, but also for sprucing it up. But, we believe that truly good housekeeping involves more than just straightening your throw pillows and buying matching upholstery. Apart from beautiful home organisation ideas and putting together lovely meals, they also slip in a quick cleaning tip or two, which always takes us by surprise. For instance, did you know that ketchup and salt make a dynamic combination when it comes to polishing copperware? Try it yourself! We love their DIY videos and are especially digging these cute planters, which are a fabulous idea for craft night with the kids, don’t you think?

A home and décor site designed to inspire anyone to live a more beautiful and happy life, Apartment Therapy offers expert advice, shopping guides and DIY tips. The team’s mission is to show how people are making their own homes more beautiful with unstaged and true-to-life tips, and their Instagram handle reflects just that. We love the real (and not PhotoShopped) images of spaces that let us believe that we can also carve our own niche, and it will be as delightful as in our dreams. An Aussie pre-war cottage on their social handle is giving us major (achievable) living room goals.

Co-founders Adi Tatarko and Alon Cohen launched a website as a result of their own remodelling project, because it was difficult for them to find the right professionals. What started as a side project of remodelling their home themselves, soon spread by word of mouth and they began to receive emails from homeowners and home professionals to open more categories and expand to other areas. Today, they also have a HouzzIndia handle on Instagram, and we love the design and architectural inspiration that the page lends. Well, housekeeping extends to the outdoors as well, and we love their garden setting ideas for an evening get-together.

“When it comes to celebrations, the décor expert, event stylist and mum-of-two knows what’s up,” lifestyle blog Martha Stewart Weddings says about Fashionable Hostess. And, we couldn’t agree more! After all, Amanda Saiontz Gluck has been styling outfits and cheese platters since she was old enough to reach her dresser and dining room table. Her blog, started in 2011, has now evolved to include tablescape inspiration, hostess tips, wedding registry essentials and home décor ideas. The Valentine’s Day breakfast-in-bed shoot she recently did is serious inspiration for the season.

Have you just had it with all the clutter, and are the mindful de-cluttering trends circulating on the Internet only causing you more anxiety? Professional organiser Samantha is passionate about helping people get organised. From tips to getting rid of the dirt on a white keyboard to the perfect gift guides, Simply Organized lays it all out for you. We’re envious of this carefully managed and sorted out junk drawer that plagues all our homes.

If, like us, your OCD plays up every time you see an uncoordinated colour scheme or disorderly shapes, your heart will leap as you scroll through The Home Edit’s handle. Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin’s goal when launching the site was to reinvent traditional organising and merge it with design and interior styling. Browsing through pictures of wardrobes, kitchen shelves, beauty drawers and refrigerators, you’ll notice how much emphasis is placed on transforming the space visually. And, nothing sums it up quite like this neatly stacked bookshelf that was part of one of their playroom projects.

Jen Jones’s addiction is looking at each and every space, wondering what could be done to beautify and simplify it. And, we’re in love with her simplistic décor and styling tips. But, that’s not all. Her account is brimming with Clean Home Challenges, organisation hacks and DIY must-dos. If you are good at crafting or want to elevate the look of your space with pieces that you’ve crafted, have a peek at her handle. While scrolling through, we caught sight of this cabinet divider that puts empty cereal boxes to good use. Fabric storage boxes, wine bottle art, key holders, charging stations and prettied up boxes await you!
