Handloom Happiness

Feel-good and happy in a good handloom! Handloom weavers who have learned the ancient art pass on their very personal touch for  the fashion-conscious to  experience the feel good factor in a very natural way. Among the very many good ethnic Indian brands that offer a variety of handloom styles in both Indian and Indo-Western ensembles is Mumbai-based brand UDD whose latest collection Mithoo celebrates the work of handloom weavers in cotton sarees and garments in a range of vibrant colours embellished with  parrot motifs and tassels. UDD’s designer Yuti says: “My impetus in creating this break-free collection was to bring back women to their natural roots. To infuse simplicity and find happiness through nature in  this hectic life.”

Festive Fleur

It’s festal time and unsurprisingly, the hot hues of orange and red are saturating  the fashion scene. But women can temper the heat with lighter shades of orange, and even pastels. Arpita Mehta’s winter collection La Fleur has the perfect amalgamation with a touch of minimalism. La Fleur  mirrors Mehta’s design narrative in intricate detailing of floral prints and ornate  embroidery with mirror work. The various options and utility of each piece scores major points for versatility. For instance, the deck print saree is a  festive update to the ruffle trend. The line-up includes young silhouettes in palazzo pants, tiered ruffle pants and skirts which can be paired with plain and sequined crop tops; also  kaftans, kurtis and capes instead of dupattas. Solid colours of red, beige and mint green can be worn as monochrome outfits, Mehta says, adding, wrap dresses are always in vogue, and serve as a no-brainer for evening cocktails.
